Requirements
Fellows are expected to do the following in their 3 months with Len:
- Complete an audit or research project
- Supervise Undergraduates and visitors
- Contribute to courses and meetings
- Optional - Undertake the CASE approved Ultrasound course (below)
PGC / PGD / MSc in Advanced Medical Imaging (Ultrasound)
Accredited by CASE, the UK regulatory body for Ultrasound qualifications. Please note the following points.
The minimum recognised qualification to practice Ultrasound is the PGC, and the course for this includes clinically related modules. To study these it is necessary for students to have a clinical placement of supervised clinical practice in the relevant field of Ultrasound scanning. To verify that you have this support we ask for a completed clinical application form (attached) in addition to the University form. Once you have this arrangement, you can apply for the PGC in Advanced Medical Imaging (Ultrasound).
The modules are as follows;
§ Physics of Ultrasound - 15 credits, starts September 2009
§ Core Skills for Diagnostic Ultrasound - 15 credits, starts September 2009
§ Extending Proficiencies in Healthcare Practice - 30 credits, start date TBC
The dates for combined delivery of the two 15 credit modules are weeks commencing 21st September and 9th November. The cost of the modules is (2009);
Single 15 credit module - £480
Single 30 credit module - £950
PGC made up of 60 credits - £1,900
If your Trust is within the NW region, many of these will be supported by direct funding from the SHA.
The best way to proceed is to download and complete a University of Salford application form from our website http://www.salford.ac.uk/study/forms/postgraduate_taught_application.pdf and return it by post. This does not commit you to anything at this stage, only registers an interest.
